Transparent JPEG?!

If you are in the graphics you know that JPEG does not support transparency. The traditional approach to transparency, as found in GIF and some other file formats, is to choose one otherwise-unused color value to denote a transparent pixel. That can't work in JPEG because JPEG is lossy. But there is a graphics format that combines in itself several useful features of other image formats thus enhancing their capabilities. JNG format is related to the PNG image format, can be considered as a sub-format for MNG objects, but it's official name is JPEG Network Graphic file, and it adopts lossy compression like standard JPEG images, while it may include an optional alpha channel for transparency which is not supported by standard JPEG files.
